Optimised Lifestyle — Last updated: 3 August 2026

1. Introduction

Optimised Lifestyle (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information when you visit optimisedlifestyle.co.uk or buy from our store, including when you order a blood test. It is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

If you only want the part about blood tests and health information, it is section 9.

2. Who We Are

Optimised Lifestyle is a trading name of OL Ventures Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17381659), registered office 36 Dickens Close, Reading RG4 5LZ. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

3. Information We Collect

  • Identity data: your name, and an account identifier if you create an account
  • Contact data: email address, billing address, delivery address, phone number
  • Transaction data: what you ordered and when, payment status, order fulfilment records
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system
  • Usage data: pages visited and referring websites
  • Marketing data: whether you have opted in to hear from us
  • Health information — blood tests only: your date of birth, mobile number and your blood test results. This is special category data and section 9 explains it in full.

4. How We Collect Your Data

We collect personal data when you place an order, create an account, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us by form or email. We also collect limited technical and usage data through cookies and site statistics — see section 8.

5. How We Use Your Data

  • Order processing: taking payment, arranging delivery, and customer support
  • Blood test fulfilment: placing your test with our laboratory partner and getting your results to you — see section 9
  • Account management: maintaining your account and order history
  • Website improvement: understanding how the site is used
  • Fraud prevention: protecting against fraudulent orders and misuse of the site
  • Marketing: sending updates or offers where you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time, using the link in any marketing email.

6. Legal Basis for Processing

  • Performance of a contract — processing and fulfilling your order
  • Legitimate interests — improving our service and preventing fraud
  • Consent — marketing communications, and non-essential cookies
  • Explicit consent (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a)) — handling your blood test results. We ask for this separately at checkout and you can withdraw it at any time. See section 9.
  • Legal obligation — meeting our tax and accounting duties

7. Payment Processing

We accept payment by Wallid Pay by Bank (a bank-to-bank payment made in your own banking app) and by direct bank transfer. We do not take card payments on this site, and we never see or store your bank login details or card numbers.

8. Cookies and Site Statistics

We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work — keeping your basket, keeping you signed in, and security. We also use Jetpack Stats, provided by Automattic, to count page views and see which pages and search terms bring people to the site. Our cookie banner lets you record your choice.

We do not run Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, the Meta pixel, or any advertising tracker on this site.

Blood-test product pages are deliberately excluded from site statistics. A page view that identifies which specific test someone looked at would say something about their health, so we do not collect it. We also do not send any ecommerce or conversion event naming a product to any third party, so no record of which test you bought leaves our systems. Our own sales reporting stays inside our website and is not shared.

9. Blood Testing and Your Health Information

What we collect for a blood test

When you order a blood test we collect your name, date of birth, delivery address, email address and mobile number. We need your date of birth because the laboratory is required to label your sample with it — a sample that is not correctly labelled cannot be tested. We need your mobile number to send you the passcode for your results report, which we deliberately send separately from the report itself.

We also receive your blood test results. Under data protection law, test results are data concerning health. This is a special category of personal information that the law protects more strictly than ordinary personal data, and we treat it accordingly.

Our legal basis for using it

  • To take your order, arrange your test kit or clinic appointment, and get your results to you, we rely on performance of our contract with you.
  • To handle your test results, we rely on your explicit consent, which we ask for separately at checkout. You can withdraw it at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Withdrawing consent does not affect a test that has already been carried out, but we will stop processing your results and delete any copy we hold.

We ask for explicit consent rather than relying on a medical-care basis because we are not a healthcare provider and we do not interpret your results. See “What this service is not”, below.

Who else is involved

Your sample is analysed by Sussex Pathology Ltd, a CQC-registered and UKAS-accredited laboratory in Crawley, West Sussex, trading as OneDayTests. To arrange your test we share your name, date of birth and contact details with them. They hold the laboratory record of your test and are subject to their own regulatory obligations as an accredited laboratory.

Sussex Pathology will contact you directly by email — to confirm your kit has been dispatched, to send you a link to book a clinic appointment if your test needs one, and to confirm that appointment. Those emails come from them, not from us.

Your sample and your results stay in the UK. We do not transfer your health information outside the UK.

How we send you your results

Your results arrive in a secure portal that only we can access — the laboratory does not send them to you directly. We then send them to you as a password-protected PDF by email, and send the passcode separately by text message, so that neither message on its own is enough to open your results.

We will never put the name of your test, any marker, or any result in the subject line or body of an email or text message.

How long we keep it

We do not keep copies of your results. Once we have sent your report to you, we delete our copy. The laboratory retains the clinical record of your test in line with its own obligations, and you can ask us for a further copy at any time while they hold it.

We keep the record of your order — what you bought and when — for accounting and tax purposes. That order record does not contain your results.

What this service is not

This is important, so we say it plainly. This service gives you access to your own laboratory data. It is not a diagnosis, not a medical opinion, and not a substitute for seeing a doctor.

  • The laboratory reports numbers measured against standard reference ranges. Nobody reviews your results and writes an opinion on them, and we do not interpret them for you.
  • We are not doctors or nurses, and no clinical relationship exists between us and you.
  • If any result falls outside the reference range, or if you are worried about anything, speak to your GP or another qualified clinician. Take your report with you. In an emergency, call 111 or 999.
  • You must be 18 or over to order a test.

10. Data Sharing

We share the minimum data necessary with:

  • Sussex Pathology Ltd — our laboratory partner, for blood test orders only (section 9)
  • Our fulfilment and delivery partners — so physical orders can be picked, packed and delivered
  • Our payment provider — to take payment
  • Our hosting, email and website providers — including Automattic for site statistics, and our email providers for order confirmations and newsletters

We never sell your personal data. We do not share health information with anyone other than the laboratory, and never for marketing or advertising.

11. Data Retention

We keep personal data only as long as we need it. Order records are typically kept for 6 years to meet UK tax and accounting requirements, then deleted or anonymised. As set out in section 9, we do not retain blood test result reports at all.

12. Data Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure and access-controlled hosting, restricted internal access to personal data, and ongoing security monitoring. Result reports are password-protected and their passcodes are sent on a different channel. No system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the protection of health information particularly seriously.

13. Your Data Protection Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you, have inaccurate data corrected, have your data deleted, restrict how we use it, object to our using it, and receive it in a portable format. Because we rely on your consent to handle your blood test results, you also have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected].

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

14. International Transfers

Your data is held in the UK and the European Economic Area. Some of our website and email providers are based outside the UK, and where that is the case the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision. Health information is not transferred outside the UK — our laboratory partner and its facilities are UK-based.

15. Third-Party Links

Our website links to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.

16. Age Restriction

Our products and services are intended for people aged 18 or over, and blood tests are sold to over-18s only — your date of birth is checked at checkout. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed.
